Step 1 : Admission requirements
- Apprenticeship
An apprenticeship is a learning programme where a learner is first employed by an employer in an apprenticeship position. The apprenticeship consists of theoretical training at a training centre or TVET College as well as workplace training under the supervision of a qualified artisan

Step 5 : Internship
- Internship in Counselling Psychology
Before commencing the internship the candidate is obliged to register with the Professional Board for Psychology as an intern Psychologist. The internship has to be done under the supervision of a registered Psychologist at an accredited institution. The internship is full-time for 12 months and at least 40 hours per week.
Step 6 : Final assessment
- National Examination of the Professional Board for Psychology (Psychologist)
In order to register as a Psychologist your dissertation and internship have to be completed and thereafter you have to sit the National Examination of the Professional Board for Psychology. If the dissertation is completed and you are in the last three months of internship, you could apply to sit the examination. If the internship is completed and you are still in the process of completing the dissertation, you could sit the examination once the final dissertation has been submitted.

A designation is a title that professional persons may use (write behind their name) to indicate that they are fully qualified in a certain professional field and are members of a professional body. It also indicates that the persons subscribe to the code of conduct of that professional body.
