Description
Prepares, sets up and runs and monitors glass, clay and stone manufacturing machinery and equipment.Tasks
Checking production plans and specifications to determine and select materials, ingredients, procedures and adjustments for machines that mix, extrude, pump, compact and cut to manufacture and finish glass, clay and stone products.Selecting and installing machine components such as dies, moulds and cutters according to specifications.
Using hand tools and measuring devices as necessary.
Minding plant and machinery that assemble and fill moulds with mixtures for glass, clay or stone as required.
Turning controls to adjust machine functions such as regulating air pressure, creating vacuums and adjusting coolant flow.
Finishing the surfaces of products by cutting, sandblasting and polishing products to specifications.
Collecting and examining samples of mixtures and finished products for conformity to specifications and adjusting machine settings accordingly.
Recording and maintaining production data such as meter readings and quantities, types and dimensions of materials produced.
Arranging and assisting with plant and machinery maintenance and repair.
